| YOUSAF PRAISES GLASWEGIANS FOR FORCING SDL CLIMBDOWN |

Glasgow MSP, Humza Yousaf, has welcomed news that the Scottish Defence League has cancelled their ‘National Rally’ tomorrow (Saturday 28th July).
For the last few weeks BNP and SDL activists have joined forces and set up impromptu stalls next to Palestine and CND campaigners, causing disruption to the public. They announced via their facebook page that they were cancelling tomorrow’s planned rally due to ‘police considerations’.
Commenting Humza Yousaf MSP said:
“Once again the voices of good have outweighed the bad. It is heartening as a Scot, that every time the BNP and SDL come to our country they leave with their tail between their legs – the experience leaves them constantly humiliated so I am not surprised they decided not to bother this time round.
“Unite Against Fascism and many other organisations planned a demonstration to counter the SDL’s vitriolic bile, they would have been vastly outnumbered and so have clearly decided not peddle their filth up here.
“Glasgow in particular has a great history of celebrating diversity and standing against racism. We can never be complacent of the threat of racism, however, we should be proud of our efforts in tackling bigotry in whatever form it rears its ugly head.” 1.
